How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do u find inspiration?
I started making collages when I was twelve or thirteen years old. However,
life took me away from the path of my artistic passions, until a year ago I
decided to give them the place they deserved in my life.

My specialty? I think I'm just building my style, for now I feel happy with
watercolors.

I find inspiration in colors, I love the magic that watercolors have when
you mix them. I can look for something concrete, but watercolors find its
own forms and ways.

Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
Not yet in the art industry. As I mentioned earlier, I took a more
conventional career path than I wanted. I think I am beginning to build my
way to explore my art.

My dream job would be as a freelance editorial illustrator, a work that would
allow me to interpret texts under my gaze, through different artistic
techniques.

Do you have a favorite Artist?
Ana Victoria Calderón, a Mexican watercolorist has been a reference for me.
I really love the work of Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, El Greco and Monet.

What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
As a boy raised in the violent working class neighborhoods of Medellin in the
eighties, I dreamed of knowing countries and cities that seemed very far
then. It is a dream that I have fulfilled as an adult!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
In five years, I would like to have my own illustration workshop. It could be
here in Medellín, in London or in Barcelona. 10 or 20 years is a long time!
Let's go little by little.

If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would like to talk to my grandfather, whom I did not know. He was a man
from another era: he travelled the mountains with his horses and goods,
like a sailor on dry land.

How is one way you make money with your art?
I would like to grant art licenses for reproductions in any format. Another
idea that attracts me is to sell prints.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Japan: it is a very careful and detailed culture in
everything it does.

What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether it’s a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software
I really love the watercolors by Schmincke and Sennelier.

Any advice for young artists?
I would like to tell them to believe in what they do… In the path of art there
are many moments of discouragement because you feel that what you are
doing is not good. But it is through the persistent work that eventually we
are creating and building something.
