How old are you?
24
Where are you from?
Ipswich, Suffolk. U.K.
How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do you find inspiration?
I guess I found a love for art when I was younger. I used to draw all the time, cartoons mainly, but I enjoyed it so much throughout school, college and university, that I started my own Freelance Graphic Design company nearly a year ago now. I specialize in branding mostly – I love a good logo! Instagram is a huge part of my inspiration, along with It’s Nice That and Creative Review – books are also great too.
Do you have a Job in the art industry? If so, whats one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
Being a Freelance Graphic Designer I work with many different people. I would say something that I’m not too fond of is trying to complete a project for a client when they don’t know what they’re looking for – sometimes working without a brief can be tricky.
Do you have a favorite Artist?
I don’t have a favorite artist in particular – I love so many! Jonathon Barnbrook, Paul Rand and Anna Kuts are designers that I really admire.
What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
Creating and starting up my Graphic Design business.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
I’d still love to be doing Freelance work and a like to keep a close working relationship with my regular clients.
If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
I’ve already met Michael Gambon (Dumbledore), so I’m happy.
How is one way you can make money with your art?
Luckily, most of my work is pre-commissioned. Other work I do is mainly for exposure through Instagram.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I’d love to go back to New York – working in a successful design studio would be amazing.
What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether its a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software.
I use Adobe software everyday – Its most definitely the best!
Any advice for young artists?
If you know your specialty, stick with it. Expand on those skills and practice them every day. There are website that generate practice briefs, these can be a great way to build an impressive portfolio. Create projects that you love, not what you think other people will love.
