My man Shia in the news again. I wont lie, I fuck with Shia heavy. I know he has had his troubles, but who hasn’t?
Say what you want about the man, what I wanna say is I heard something interesting from him that we could all use as a lesson.
Here is a highly successful artist, who has a wonderful partner, child, and all the money to do as he pleases… and he says he is still searching for joy and seemingly finds it in connection, everyday normal interaction with people.
I think that’s so powerful and telling. We chase things that we think will fulfill us, careers, money, toys, status. It because we’ve been engrained with a certain expectation of what life and success looks like and what matters, we think this is the path we need to take to be able to connect with fellow humans. It has never been a surprise to me to see so many who reach “the top” realize it’s not actually the top and be left wanting after seemingly having it all. I think in most cases its because to get those things, you actually have to severe real connection for artificial. Think being away from your family all day while having to be in your customer service/business persona.
To me, the most fundamental aspect of being fulfilled, is real connection. With anyone, but especially those on a similar wave, it is so soul soothing, to know that you are truly not alone.
