How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do u find inspiration?
I have always loved art and music ever since I was a child – I used to draw, paint, and dance when I was in elementary school. I picked up photography after my dad gave me a camera right before we went on a family vacation when I was 15 years old. Photography, for me, was just a very part-time hobby that I enjoyed doing while on vacation. I didn’t really focus on it day to day.

A few years ago, I started travelling to some really interesting places for work, and so I began taking my camera with me to capture images of the cities I travelled to – and then I was hooked. I started reading and watching tutorials on everything I could find in order to improve my skills. I have met some great people along the way that have provided me with tips and techniques that have been so helpful to my growth. The Photography community has been very supportive and I am so grateful for that.

I am really inspired by the excitement and wonder of travel, colors, textures, and light. I really hope to try and capture those elements in my images so that I can inspire someone else to wander and explore the world around them.

Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
I work in the furniture merchandising and retail industry and I love it! I travel a lot for work – and am usually in 2 – 3 different cities a week. I get up very early in the morning or stay out late at night trying to get some shots in when I am in an interesting place. I’ll take my camera with me for an early morning hike before work to get in some exercise and to try and catch an amazing sunrise!

My dream is to someday be able to sell my photography as art works or be featured in a gallery. I would love to be a travel photojournalist – I want to tell stories about places and people with my pictures and words.

Do you have a favorite Artist?
Monet has always been my favorite because of his vision of how light plays with colors and textures.

What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
I am most proud of my family. I have the most supportive and thoughtful husband, and 2 wonderfully talented children, and 2 grandchildren – all of whom I love to the moon and back.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
Five years – Sell My Photographic Art 10 Years – Move Somewhere Warmer & Be a Travel Photojournalist 20 Years – Write a Book Documenting My Travels and Photography

If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
My grandmother. She passed away when I was just 12 years old. As you age, you gain a deeper perspective on life, love, family, and the world in general. I would love to talk to her about her life and her family – things I never really talked to her about when I was just a young child. I would also like to tell her that I feel her with me all of the time.

How is one way you make money with your art?
I am not yet, but I hope to soon!

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Am I allowed to overgeneralize and say Europe?! I have been to Italy and in a few months am going to France for the first time. But I would love to explore Norway, and Switzerland, and Spain…. I am a wanderer at heart so I want to go everywhere!

My camera is a Nikon.

Any advice for young artists?
Don’t be afraid to try something new. You will learn whether or not you like that new thing and it will help you to either move forward or change direction.
