We are honored to have, Gustavo Magalhães, as our Featured Artist, he is a super talented illustrator that creates some really cool and unique designs, we especially like his posters and flyers, but once again you shouldn’t take our word for it! Head over and his wall out, and while your over there hit that follow button to support a fellow artist!
How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do u find inspiration?
I am ahead of Miopia since 2015, which is a independent studio focused in music merchandising, poster designs and packaging.
I usually work with brushes and pen, doing almost everything by hand.
I find inspiration in my routine, music and a lot of artists I am blessed to be friends with.
Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
I own a studio working mostly with small brands and independent musicians. To me this is the perfect fit for my work and my personality. Being raised next to the punk rock culture, I am honored to collaborate with artists that takes DIY philosophy so good.
Do you have a favorite Artist?
Yes, my mains inspirations are: Bicicleta Sem Freio, Carol Maia, Marcelo Augusto, Pedro Oyarbide, Renka Crew, Jon Contino, Gut 42 and a LOT of people from my personal circle.
What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
Manage to tour with my band and meet a lot of places and people.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
Doing presentations with my work, releasing art books with my studio and probably doing drawing classes to people who can’t afford it.
If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
How is one way you make money with your art?
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Sweden, I already leaved there and loved it.
What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether it’s a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software
Winsor and Newton, they have the BEST brushes in the world.
Any advice for young artists?
Create every time, being silly and innocent is real good. Never stop being a kid and humility is the best quality you may have. To me is works a lot. Ah, and the last one: NEVER say you don’t know a thing, you are always learning and you can always learn something new. DIY every time.
