How old are you?
28

Where are you from?
Kingsport, TN

How long have you been an artist?
For my entire life. I’ve been a painter for 10 years.

What is your specialty?
Abstract and representational

Where do u find inspiration?
I don’t over think my inspiration, if I start to feel drawn to a color scheme I just let my mind run away with possibilities. This happens constantly. Sometimes I think of a particular thing (object or person or idea) I want to paint but usually begins with color for me.

Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
I teach acrylic pour classes at a place called skillville in Johnson City where I live. It’s an art collective and shared space for creators. The only thing I could say I dislike is that I’m just a guest teacher there so it’s not really guaranteed money. My dream job is just to paint. Simple as that!

Do you have a favorite Artist?
My favorite living artist is William schaff. I love his style, the way he draws people and the colors he uses. His colors are simple but he uses many different mediums to get his point of view across. I respect and admire him. My favorite artist of the past is Gustav klimpt. He has such vibrant pieces. He created on a larger scale which I adore. His art has a dark feeling to it. I like that.

What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
To me, my biggest accomplishment is that I have always respected my instinct and followed my dream.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
In five years I see myself selling art, online business booming, organized and happy. In ten years I see myself starting to settle into life. In twenty years I see myself owning a gallery. Maybe more than one.

How is one way you make money with your art?
I do lots of commissions. When I meet people I show them my art. If they act interested, I talk to them to figure out what they would want in a custom piece of art. I love commissions, I love helping someone else get their ideas across.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I would go to Iceland. It’s beautiful there. I want to go there and spend months painting.

What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether it’s a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software.
Matisse paints. I love the color range and formula. They have one of the best, creamiest formulas. Also they make my favorite orange of all time!

Any advice for young artists?
Keep practicing and following your heart. Believe in yourself and your abilities as an artist. Find your point of view, your style, and just go for it. Never look back!
