How old are you?
I am 38.

Where are you from?
Salt Lake City, Utah

How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do u find inspiration?
I have been an artist my whole life! My specialty is colorful, positive typographic messages. I use a lot of bright colors juxtaposed with black. Where do I find inspiration? Life. The world. Everything around me. Things people say. Lines from songs and movies. Signs on buildings. Logos. Advertising in magazines. Street art. Numbers and letters. Really anything and everything can inspire, its just a matter of being receptive to filling your mind with everything around you and relying on your subconscious to recall things as you need them.

Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
Well I am a full time artist and illustrator. I also freelance as an art director occasionally doing advertising work. I don’t love doing art direction, as there are always so many cooks in the kitchen and the creativity level is pretty low.

Do you have a favorite Artist?
No, but I do some some creative heroes. Basquiat. Barbara Kruger. Steven Sprouse are a few.

What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
I am an Eagle Scout!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
I see myself in NY in 5 years, but with a larger studio and potentially a few big murals around the world. In 20 years I hope to have added a small house upstate to that mix! 🙂

If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
Hmm. I would love to meet Tupac. Just because I think he’s cool.

How is one way you make money with your art?
I paint murals for clients!

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I’d love to go Berlin, and experience the night life and grittiness.

What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether it’s a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software
Ok for spray paint I love MONTANA! And for markers I can’t get enough of POSCA! They are just so juicy and opaque!

Any advice for young artists?
Yes. Be consistent! Both with your style and with your work ethic. Just keep making more and more!!! The more you make, the more you’ll know what you are into making!
