How long have you been an artist? What is your specialty? Where do u find inspiration?
I think every one is an “artist” in their own way, so i guess I’ve been one for 29 years. My specialty is collage, which I’ve been working with for about 4 years now. I find inspiration from just about every where. I get it from music, movies, from my hiking and camping adventures, even just sitting still. It’s rare that i don’t get inspired.
Do you have a job in the art industry? If So, what’s one thing you don’t like about it? If no, where would your dream job be?
My dream job would be making art for a living. I am currently on the path to making that a reality. I have started my own business making “collage magnets”, which is a product based off of my artwork. They are magnetized magazine cut outs of face parts, which allows a person to make their own unique collage on a magnetic surface. There is nothing I don’t like about it.
Do you have a favorite Artist?
One of my favorite Instagram artists is John Vochatzer (@calamityfair). His collage work constantly inspires me. I also enjoy the work of Salvador Dali and Hieronymus Bosch.
What is one accomplishment you’ve had in your life? Does not need to be art related.
My girlfriend and I have built our own work studio in the woods. Its a 10×12″ space with tons of windows and a clear roof. It has a cat door for my cat to come in and out as she pleases. Its my favorite spot on this earth.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
I see myself living and working on my own farm. As well as having a successful art career. My magnets will be in stores all across the country.
If you could meet and talk to any person in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
I have no desire to talk to any one.
How is one way you make money with your art?
I sell my magnets on line at http://www.fonsomething.com. I also sell art at art shows and make album covers for musicians.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Lately I’ve really been into Switzerland. The mountains look gorgeous to me. It seems like such a peaceful and beautiful place to be.
What is your favorite brand of art supply? Whether it’s a brand of pencils or brand of camera or software
Any advice for young artists?
Do what you love, and do it every day. You will only get better.
